iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max pre-orders are officially live and Vodafone is breaking out the big guns with a massive 500GB plan. If you get either of the two aforementioned devices, the iPhone 12, or iPhone 12 Pro, you can pair them with a 500GB plan for $55 per month. This plan would normally only include 100GB and set you back $65 per month.
If you're keen to get this deal a 24-month plan, it means you're looking at $104.95 per month for an iPhone 12 mini, $111.20 per month for an iPhone 12, $125.79 per month for an iPhone 12 Pro, or $132.04 per month for an iPhone 12 Pro Max when it comes to the base level allowances. Notably, these plans are cheaper than Vodafone's 150GB plan.
Vodafone's offer seems to be a direct response to Telstra and Optus who are currently offering sweeping discounts on their top-tier plans. Telstra has cut $50 per month from its 180GB plan, bringing it down to $65 per month. Optus has cut $54 per month from its 500GB Optus One plan, bringing it down to $65 per month. In both cases, these discounts only last for your first 12 months with the telco, after which you'll pay full price for the remainder of your term. Of course, you could always change to a cheaper Telstra or Optus plan.
On the other hand, if you sign-up with Vodafone, you get the discounted price for the life of your plan, in addition to the bonus data.
Here's how Vodafone's absolute unit of a plan compares to Optus and Telstra's top plans when paired with the new iPhones. Be aware that these widgets show the discounted price for Optus and Telstra. After your first 12 months, these will increase by $54 per month and $50 per month, respectively.
Vodafone's offer is available until November 16. It's also available as a SIM-only plan, but the $10 per month discount will run out after a year. You'll keep the 500GB allowance for the life of your plan however.
Of course, it is worth considering if you actually need a 500GB allowance. 500GB is A LOT of data. My NBN plan is 500GB and I barely get through half of that in a month. Of course, Vodafone plans allow data sharing, so you could always bundle it with a $15 per month data-only tablet SIM and use your massive iPhone plan as a way to replace your primary internet connection if you're happy living off of 4G.
