Vivo Y20s

Apple may have dominated headlines this week with the release of the iPhone 12, but Vivo is getting in on the smartphone party with two new devices on the exact opposite side of the pricing scale: the Y20s (pictured above) and the Y70.

The Vivo Y20s is the cheaper of the pair, retailing for just $299 outright. While the hardware is fairly modest, 128GB of expandable storage is a standout feature for the money. Most phones in the same price bracket max out at a 64GB.

Key specifications for the Vivo Y20s include a 6.51-inch 720p+ display, a Snapdragon 460 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. It has three rear-facing cameras including a 13MP primary lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth lens.

You can get the Vivo Y20s in a choice of nebula blue or obsidian black.

Vivo Y70

The Vivo Y70 (pictured above) is a bit more expensive at $449 outright, but almost every feature is a step up from its cheaper sibling.

Key specifications for the Vivo Y70 include a 6.44-inch 1080p+ display, a Snapdragon 665 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 4,100mAh battery. It has three rear-facing cameras including a 48MP primary lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth lens.

You can get the Vivo Y70 in a choice of gravity black or oxygen blue.

Both phones are available from JB-Hi-Fi from today, and will also be ranged by Big W, Officeworks, Mobileciti, and Amazon shortly. Vivo doesn't have any telco partners at this stage.

For those not familiar with the brand, Vivo is a sister company to OPPO, Realme and OnePlus. The four are all owned by the same parent company, BBK Electronics. Despite shared ownership, the companies tend to operate independently, although share some supply chain efficiencies.
