Virgin Mobile is shutting down. We can help you find your next plan.

June 2018: The Virgin Mobile brand is being phased out and plans are no longer available to purchase. The information on this page refers to plan details before this announcement.

What to do next

There are lots of great alternatives to choose from. Start by selecting one of the options below:

Until the end of August, Virgin Mobile is offering double the regular data allowance on most of its 24 month contract plans. Not only is this a big data upgrade, but when combined with the telco's new data rollover scheme you're getting more data and more chance to use it.

Plus, several of the plans include an extra 1GB on top of the Double Data if you buy them online. For example, the $80 SIM Only plan now comes with a massive 15GB of data per month once you factor in both the Double Data and the online bonus.

24 month plans

On contract, Virgin is offering double data on all plans from $40 and over. These plans can be bundled with a brand new smartphone.

SIM-Only plans

If you're not after a new phone and would be happy to save a bunch of cash by going with a month-to-month SIM-only plan, Virgin has some data bonus options for that, too. This isn't a double data deal, but you can still get a hefty upgrade.

Important info

The double data deal is not available with any other bonus data offer, and comes with one whopper of a caveat: in order to be eligible, you must not be switching from an Optus Network provider. You must be coming from a Telstra or Vodafone network telco, or an existing upgrading Virgin Mobile customer.

This means you can't get your hands on double data if you're switching to Virgin from Optus, Amaysim, Vaya, Yatango Mobile, Jeenee, Spintel, Bendigo Bank Telco, iiNet or TPG mobile.

Data Rollover

Virgin started doing rollover in March 2015. This feature takes any unused data from your previous month and adds it to the next. The rollover period is only one month; unused data from two billing cycles ago will disappear. Look at it like a second chance to get the most out of what you pay for.

We've covered Data Rollover in more detail in this earlier article, but essentially the new Data Rollover feature let's you make use of unused data each month in the following month. So if you have 2GB left over in January, you can use the 2GB on top of your regular data allowance in February.
