MVNO Spintel today announced a range of new mobile plans, giving customers the option to design their own plans, and incorporating a new ‘bump’ feature to elliviate ‘bill-shock’ fears.
The new plans are split into Small, Medium, Large and X-Large options for calls, text messages and data. Like Yatango, Spintel customers can choose which of these options they want to pick for each component and build their own plan. Unlike Yatango, Spintel works on the Optus 4G network, not just 3G.

Spintel is also borrowing Optus’ excellent excess usage model, where customers are ‘bumped’ up to the next cost level when they exceed their limit, rather than paying a per unit cost for the extras.
Customers who manage to exceed the limits of the XL plan will continue to get bumped. An extra $10 will buy unlimited calls or messages for the remainder of the billing period, and $10 also buy 1GB extra data.
This means that new customers would be wise to choose the lowest levels for call, text and data options and then bump up to the best level depending on their usage each month.
