Samsung has revealed its latest foldable phones - the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 - and the pair have grown up and slimmed down. Both devices have larger external and internal displays, while also featuring a thinner build.
The two new foldables are joined by the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which acts as a cheaper entry point into Samsung's foldable portfolio. While it has a new name, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE's specifications are largely in line with last year's Galaxy Z Flip 6.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE starts at $1,499 for a 128GB model, while the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 will set you back a minimum of $1,799 for a 256GB variant. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 got a $150 price hike compared to last year's model, and starts at $2,899 with with 256GB of storage.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of what's new, pre-orders for Samsung's new foldables start today ahead of an August 1 release date. As tends to be the case with Samsung phones, there's a stack of pre-order bonuses on offer, whether you order on a mobile plan or buy outright.
If you pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 7 or Galaxy Z Fold 7 through Optus, you'll get a voucher for the Samsung eStore. This voucher is valued at $500 if you go with the Flip, or $800 with the Fold. Optus isn't ranging the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.
Vodafone has pre-order discounts on all three phones. There's a $600 saving to be had on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, a $250 saving on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and a discount of up to $300 on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. These are applied across the length of your repayment term. Vodafone will also throw in up to $500 in bonus credit for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 or $700 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 if you trade in an old device.
Lastly, if you pre-order through Telstra, you'll get a sizeable discount. Telstra will shave $500 off the price of the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and $800 off the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This is applied across the length of your repayment. In addition, trading in an old phone toward either device will get you $600 of extra credit. Telstra also isn't ranging the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.

If you'd prefer to grab any of the new phones outright, the Samsung website has its own offers. No matter which phone you buy, you'll get a free storage upgrade. This means you can buy the 512GB model for the price of the 256GB, or in the case of the Galaxy Z Flip FE, the 256GB model for the price of 128GB. If you'd prefer a 1TB Galaxy Z Fold 7, you get a discounted upgrade instead, effectively saving you $200 compared to the RRP.

As aforementioned, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has bigger displays while moving to a thinner and lighter design. The front display is now a 6.5-inch panel, and the inside display has grown to 8-inch.
Despite the increases, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is now just 4.2mm thick at its thinnest part. That's roughly the same as what OPPO achieved with the Find N5. Samsung has also cut the Galaxy Z Fold 7's weight. It measures in at 215g, making it lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung has also made a few camera changes. The primary camera is now a 200MP lens (just like the Galaxy S25 Ultra), there's a brighter 12MP ultra-wide lens, and selfie camera on the internal display is no longer embedded under the screen. It's a more conventional 10MP camera now. The 10MP 3x telephoto lens and 10MP selfie camera on the external display remain unchanged from the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The only other significant update is the move to a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
One omission worth noting is the lack of S Pen support. While previous Galaxy Z Fold models support Samsung's trademark stylus, this is no longer the case with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will get seven years of major operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has had a similar glow-up. Its external display is now a 4.1-inch panel, while its internal screen has grown to 6.9-inch.
The new external display makes it similar to what rivals like Motorola have done in recent years. But while Motorola devices can run any Android app on the external display out of the box, Samsung is a little more restrictive by default. The out of the box Galaxy Z Flip 7 cover screen display is still smartwatch-like and based around widgets.
Advanced settings allow you to bypass these restrictions, however, and give you a bit more flexible.
As with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has been slimmed down. While not quite as thin as the Fold, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 measures in at 6.5mm at its thinnest part.
Samsung has also increased the battery size on the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It now has a 4,300mAh cell, which a 300mAh increase on last year.
Instead of a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the entire Galaxy S25 family, Samsung has kitted out the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with its in-house Exynos 2500 chipset. Cameras remain unchanged from last year - there's a 50MP primary lens, 12MP ultra-wide lens, and 10MP selfie camera - but the different chipset may change the photo quality.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 also gets seven years of major operating system upgrades and of security updates.

Lastly, there's the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is pitched as a more affordable entry point into Samsung's foldable range with a starting price of $1,499.
The cheaper device is largely based on last year's Galaxy Z Flip 6. Like last year's model, it has a 3.4-inch external display and a 6.7-inch internal display. It also has the same camera configuration: a 50MP primary lens, 12MP ultra-wide lens, and 10MP selfie camera.
There are a few hardware changes, however. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is powered by a Samsung-made Exynos 2400 chipset, instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found in the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Starting storage and RAM have both also been reduced, to 128GB and 8GB, respectively.
Like Samsung's other new foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will still get seven years of operating system upgrades and seven years of security.

In addition to new foldables, Samsung also announced two new wearables - the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. The Galaxy Watch 8 has a new pillowy design and is 11% thinner than the previous model, while the Classic is more like a traditional timepiece and brings back the rotating bezel.
New features include better sleep tracking, a running coach, and the ability to check your antioxidant levels by pressing your thumb on the rear sensor.
The Galaxy Watch 8 starts at $649 for a 40mm model, while the Watch 8 Classic starts at $899.
