Samsung just revealed its latest "Fan Edition" mobile phone, the Galaxy S25 FE. Samsung's FE range is the semi-premium option in its portfolio, representing a step down from the mainline S-series devices, but a solid improvement over its mid-tier A-series phones.
This year, the Galaxy S25 FE represents fairly subtle upgrades when compared to last year's Galaxy S24 FE. The key changes are a thinner build and a larger battery.
The Galaxy S25 FE is now 7.4mm thick, which makes it 8% thinner than last year. It's also 11% lighter, now weighing in at 190g.
On the battery front, the Galaxy S25 FE is powered by a 4,900mAh cell. That's a 200mAh improvement on the Galaxy S24 FE. Samsung has also kitted out the phone with faster 45W wired charging speeds. It says that's fast enough to get it from flat to 65% in around 30 minutes.
Other key specifications include a 6.7-inch 1080p+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an Exynos 2400 chipset, 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, eSIM, and IP68 water resistance. When it comes to cameras, the Galaxy S25 FE has a 50MP primary lens, 12MP ultra-wide lens, 8MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom, and a 12MP selfie camera.
Samsung is promising the Galaxy S25 FE will get seven years of major operating system and security updates, just like the mainline Galaxy S25 family.
The Galaxy S25 FE will be available from September 26, with no pre-orders ahead of time. Pricing will start at $1,099 for a 128GB model, but a Samsung spokesperson told us the phone will be available for as little as $849 at launch thanks to introductory offers.
We're not sure which retailers will be offering what kind of discounts yet, but the spokesperson said there will be promos for those who want to buy the Galaxy S25 FE outright and for those who want to buy it on a mobile plan.
At the same time, the Galaxy S25 is already eight months old, so there are plenty of deals and discounts. Vodafone currently has a $400 discount, Optus is throwing in a bonus Galaxy Tab A9 Plus, while Telstra will give customers a Galaxy Tab S10 FE.

On top of a new semi-premium smartphone, Samsung is also launching two new tablets: the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. Both have been slimmed down and feature a new S-Pen.
The Galaxy Tab S11 is an 11-inch device, while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra has a new, much larger 14.6-inch display. The pair naturally are all in on Galaxy AI, but also have an updated DeX mode that offers proper multi-monitor support when working with an external screen.
The Galaxy Tab S11 starts at $1,399, while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra starts at $2,099. Both are available from September 26.
