As part of its Galaxy S25 unveiling, Samsung teased a fourth phone: the Galaxy S25 Edge. The presentation was scant on details about the new device, but it's expected to be a skinnier version of the Galaxy S25.
Recent rumours suggest the Galaxy S25 Edge will be 6.4mm thick at its thinnest point, which would make it 0.8mm slimmer than the standard Galaxy S25. The screen is expected to be somewhere put between 6.7-inch and 6.8-inch, making it roughly the same size as the Galaxy S25 Plus.
In terms of cameras, the rumours suggested the Galaxy S25 Edge could have the same 200MP primary lens as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the new 50MP ultra-wide lens introduced this year, and an all new 50MP 3.5x zoom lens. Android Authority saw a unit on the show floor following the Galaxy S25 event, revealing the phone will only has two rear-facing cameras.
Battery is a big unknown, however, and a smaller body would necesitate a smaller capacity cell. Somewhere between 3,000mAh and 4,000mAh is expected, which could give it a smaller capacity than the entry-level Galaxy S25.
According to a post by Bloomburg journalist Mark Gurman, the Galaxy S25 Edge will be cheaper than the Galaxy S25 Ultra and will launch in the first half of the year. Past leaks have suggested May.
Given the small number of hardware changes in the mainline Galaxy S25 series this time around, the Galaxy S25 Edge feels like a "newer" new model. Thinner form-factor aside, Samsung has long resisted putting its high resolution 200MP cameras in anything but the Ultra, while also not upgrading the primary lens in the more affordable S series models since the Galaxy S22.
Apple is also expected to be working on a thinner iPhone for its annual launch event in September. The rumour mill has dubbed it the "iPhone Air", and it is expected to replace the iPhone Plus in Apple's line-up for 2025.
