Vodafone has got the jump and announced preorders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and controversial Note Edge ahead of Telstra, Optus and Virgin Mobile.
The Note 4 is a highly anticipated device. As this year’s flagship phablet from Samsung it’s destined to take over the big-screen crown from its predecessor. This time it has its work cut out for it. For the first time since the Note line came in to existence, one of its number must compete directly with an iPhone thanks to the oversized iPhone 6 Plus.
The Edge is a totally new animal. Thanks to Samsung’s curved screen technology, it sports a display that wraps around the right side of the device. This touch-sensitive column is a hub of live-updated information that can be scrolled or interacted with independently of, or used to launch apps on, the main screen area.
Being a proof-of-concept device, the Edge also carriers a far-heftier price tag, as it has more R&D behind it to make up for.
Galaxy Note 4 plans and availability

The Note 4 is a powerful, high-end smartphone with a big, but not massive 5.7-inch display. The resolution is a market-leading 2560 x 1440, giving it around 515 pixels per inch (ppi).
Despite having a larger screen and better resolution, the Note 4 is about half a cm shorter than its iPhone 6 Plus rival. Admittedly, it’s about 1mm thicker on the profile, but in all squeezing such a big, sharp screen in to a more-compact design should make for a solid user experience.
It will also be one of the most powerful devices on the market, being the equal of and better than the Galaxy S5 depending on what parts of its hardware you’re looking at.
If you’re after a Note 4 then Voda is offering it on a range of plans. The Red Plans are what you’ll probably wanting to look at, thanks to their generous data offerings and recently revamped format.
On the $70 Red Plan, the Note 4 will run you an extra $10 per month. That comes to $80 for 3GB of data, infinite national calls and infinite texts both here and overseas. You’ll also get 300 standard international minutes and 2 months of unlimited data.
If you’d prefer a bit more data then there’s the $80 plan with 4GB, which will come to $86 per month with the phone, and the $100 plan with 6GB, which will come to $104 per month. All Red Plans have the same call and text inclusions, as well as the 2 months of unlimited data.
Right now availability dates vary depending on your location, but expect to wait at least 3-4 weeks once your order has cleared, if you sign up today.
Note Edge plans and availability

The Note Edge is quite a bit more expensive than the Note 4, but it could be worth it to have the only phone with its form factor on the market. It’ll run you a cool $18 per month on the $70 Red Plan for a total of $88.
On the $80 plan it’s an extra $14 coming to $94, and on the $100 plan it’s still a $12, making for a whopping $112 per month.
