Mobile World Congress is typically about the latest and great smartphones, but this year, we came across a company doing something pretty cool with old tech. French company Remade specialises in refurbishing older iPhone models, and redoing them in cool new colours.
Remade says it completely rebuilds an iPhone when refurbishing a device. This includes replacing the old battery with one of its custom in-house cells, reconstructing the screen, and "functional and aesthetic" repair of the back casing. In addition, all electronics are tested to ensure they're in good working order. An iPhone's original aluminium body can be re-coloured as part of this process.

If you're looking at picking up one of Remade's refurbished iPhones, you'll typically pay around 30% less than the current market price. These refurbished devices still include a one or two year warranty, depending on the country it is sold in. The other benefit of Remade's iPhones is they're more environmentally friendly, as they're reusing old components helps cut down on tech waste.
Remade's refurbished iPhones aren't available in Australia, but the company says it's looking for distribution partners across the Asia Pacific region.
