Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 2 is one of the most expensive smartphones around, but it's gotten a touch more affordable thanks to a new Optus deal. Samsung itself recently cut the outright price of the Fold 2 down to $2,499, and now Optus is taking a further $500 off if you buy it on a plan. Well, $499.68, to be precise. This takes the Fold 2's price to under $2,000, making it the cheapest price we've seen the handset to date.
The discount is applied across the life of your plan, meaning you'll save $20.82 per month on a 24-month repayment or $13.88 per month on a 36-month repayment. Be aware that if you leave early, you'll forfeit the discount on your remaining handset payments and need to pay out the full prorated value of your Fold 2.

In our Galaxy Z Fold 2 review, we thought the device represented a welcome evolution of the foldable form-factor and addressed almost every pain point from the original. Our main concern was the $2,999 price-point - after all, a phone that expensive isn't exactly a rational purchase. While $1,999 or so isn't exactly affordable, it could make the Fold 2 just that little bit more palatable for some. It makes it much more in line with other premium devices like the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, rather than sitting in a league of its own.
