Well, that didn't take long. The Google Pixel 8a only hit shelves today, and Optus has already cut its price in half. The 128GB Pixel 8a retails for $849 locally, but you can save $424 if you pick it up on an Optus mobile plan. That works out to be an $11.78 per month discount on a 36-month term.
The one catch is that you'll need to stay connected to Optus for the entire 36-month or 24-month term you sign up for. If you leave early, you'll forfeit the handset discount on any remaining months left in your term when you pay out the remaining value of the Pixel 8a.

The 256GB Pixel 8a is also discounted by 50% at Optus. Here are how its plans compare:
Vodafone is not ranging the Pixel 8a.
In our Pixel 8a review, our main issue was the price, as we've already seen the standard Pixel 8 sell for under $800. We suggested waiting for a discount on the Pixel 8a, but didn't expect such a significant one to come so soon. Otherwise, we were pretty impressed with the performance, camera, and battery life on the Pixel 8a.
Optus' Pixel 8a discount runs until June 30.
