Optus really didn’t need to flex that hard with its newest prepaid offering Optus Flex, which represents the best all around value in the prepaid market today.
Where traditional prepaid models work on a 28 day period, Optus’ latest change up allows for subscription payments to be made monthly, fortnightly, weekly or even daily.
Regardless of how you choose to recharge you’ll pay exactly $1 per day for 1GB. 30 days means $30 and 30GB, 14 days means $14 and 14GB, and so on and so forth down to just 1, $1, 1GB.
Here are the available recharges.
Ultimately Optus’ offer is $30 for 30GB, just split up into different payment options. Without taking promotional discounts and offers under consideration this is the best value prepaid option on the market today.
All plans include unlimited talk and text and data rollover up to 200GB when you maintain an active recharge. The potential to accrue data on a daily, or weekly basis while maintaining the flexibility to chop and change how you pay is the standout feature.
Normally 1GB to use for a month will cost you around $10, meaning that you’re really paying $1 for 100MB. 7GB is likely to cost you $20, 14GB closer to $24. While it’s difficult to compare a daily recharge to a 28-day one, the data to dollar value is clearly higher with Optus Flex than with other prepaid options.
Excluding any bonus data deals 30GB of data on a prepaid SIM normally goes for $35-$40 per month. Paying one dollar per day with other prepaid providers will usually get you between 8GB and 25GB once all promotional bonuses expire.
These are some other $30 prepaid options available right now.
Flex subscriptions are managed through the My Optus app where you can choose your payment frequency as well as a range of add-ons to complement your plan such as MyData, Extras Credit to spend on international calls, messages and roaming, Travel Credit, Data Roaming and an Optus Sports Add On. 300 minutes of international calls to 50 countries can be added for just $0.50 per day on the $1 level, and $5 per month on the 30-day expiry.
Optus’ Head of Prepaid, Vidur Rattan said, “With Optus Flex, we have taken what we know our customers already love about our Prepaid plans and enabled greater value, convenience and flexibility, all in one place via the My Optus app. It’s prepaid remade.”
Auto recharges on Optus Flex plans are paid at 11:00PM Sydney time on the day of the plan expiry.
