OPPO has revealed its new flagship Find X9 series phones in China ahead of a global release later this month. The Find X9 Pro and Find X9 will get a wider debut at an event in Barcelona, scheduled for 1am AEDT on October 29.
A local spokesperson was unable to confirm if "global" includes Australia, but the Find X8 Pro was released down under in November last year. This was the first non-foldable flagship phone OPPO launched in Australia since the Find X5 in 2022. Conversely, OPPO didn't launch its Find N5 foldable in Australia, even though the Find N3 was available here.
While OPPO models launched in the Chinese market have sometimes had differences from the variants launched globally, we're expecting the same core specifications.
Both the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro are powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, and feature batteries with a capacity over 7,000mAh. The Find X9 has a 7,025mAh battery, while the Find X9 Pro has a 7,500mAh battery. OPPO says both will last for up to two days of average usage.
OPPO has moved away from curved displays with its latest phones; both devices have a flat display this time around. The standard Find X9 has a 6.59-inch panel, while the Find X9 Pro has a larger 6.78-inch screen.
On the camera front, the big new feature is a 200MP telephoto lens on the Find X9 Pro. The lens offers 3x optical zoom, but we'd imagine the high resolution allows it to effectively simulate 6x optical zoom by cropping the sensor. OPPO also has a photography kit for the phone that has a lens extender, taking the Find X9 Pro zoom lens to over 9x. It is unclear whether this will also be available globally, however.
The Find X9 devices will be OPPO's first phones powered by ColorOS 16, the manufacturer's take on Android 16.
We'll have more news about the Find X9 series, including whether or not they're launching in Australia, on October 29.
