OPPO today announced two new sub-$400 phones for the Australian market and surprise surprise, both have four rear-facing cameras.
The $299 OPPO A5 2020 has a 12MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP monochrome lens, and a 2MP portrait lens. The slightly pricier $399 OPPO A9 (pictured above) swaps out the 12MP for a higher resolution 48MP primary camera.
Key specifications for the OPPO A9 2020 include a 6.5-inch 720p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Key specifications for the OPPO A5 2020 (pictured above) are pretty similar. Other than its camera configuration, the main differences are less storage and RAM. Hardware includes a 6.5-inch 720p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and a 5,000mAh battery.
You can pick up the OPPO A9 2020 from $399 from today via Mobileciti, Bing Lee, Kogan, and Catch. In addition, you'll find it at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, and Wireless One from October 28. The OPPO A9 2020 is also available from Woolworths Mobile on a plan:
The OPPO A5 2020 will be exclusive to Telstra prepaid. It will go on sale from October 29 for $299. You'll be able to get it in a choice of "Marine Green" or "Space Purple".
Since the phone is being sold as a prepaid device, it's locked to Telstra's network, which means you won't be able to take it to another provider (or use an international SIM in it) without forking out a bit of extra cash. If you want to unlock your shiny new A5 2020 within the first six months of your purchase, you're looking at an $80 fee. If you're happy to wait, the fee gets cut to $25 after six months. After two years, you'll be able to unlock the phone for free.
