OPPO's new $219 phone has an IP rating

OPPO today announced local availability for its latest budget handset, the A18. Priced at just $219, the OPPO A18 has a feature that's very unusual to see in this price bracket: an IP rating. While most budget phones don't have any formal water resistance, the A18 is rated IP54.

An IP54 rating means the OPPO A18 is dust-protected, and splash-resistant. While the OPPO A18 isn't guaranteed to survive a dunk in water, it shouldn't have any issues with liquid spilled on it or getting caught in the rain.

Other key specifications for the A18 include a 6.56-inch 720p+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek G85 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. In terms of cameras, there's an 8MP primary lens on the back paired with a 2MP depth sensor, and a 5MP selfie camera on the front.

The OPPO A18 is available from today in a choice of blue or black. You'll find it at the OPPO Online Store, JB Hi-Fi, Big W, Harvey Norman, and Bing Lee. It's not available on a mobile plan.
