HMD today announced the Australian availability of the Nokia 5.3, a $349 Android One handset set to go on sale this week.
Despite the budget price-tag, HMD is promising solid camera performance thanks to a four-lens setup. This is made up of a 13MP primary lens, 5MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth lens. Of course, no manufacturer is going to say their phone sucks at photography, so we'll be curious to see just how good the Nokia 5.3's cameras are for the price-tag. Notably, the Nokia 5.3 features a dedicated night mode, which is unusual for a phone that costs under $400.
Key specifications for Nokia 5.3 include a 6.55-inch 720p+ display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, 64GB of expandable storage 5GB of RAM, and a 4,000mAh battery said to last up to two days. As with all other Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 5.3 is part of the Android One program. This means it is guaranteed two years of major operating system updates, and three years of security updates.
You'll be able to pick up the Nokia 5.3 from May 21 for $349 outright. You'll find it at JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, and Officeworks initially, with Big W and The Good Guys set to range it a later date. The Nokia 5.3 will be available in a choice of black, cyan, or sand, but only black will be available at launch.
