HMD is kicking of its year with a new-entry level smartphone, the Nokia 2.3, priced at just $199 outright.
While the Nokia 2.3 is a fairly standard budget device for the most part, HMD is using it to debut a new AI-driven "Recommend Shot" feature that automatically captures alternative shots when you snap a photo and then recommends the best one.
Key specifications for the Nokia 2.3 include a 6.2-inch 720p+ display, a MediaTek Helio A22 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, 13MP + 2MP rear-facing cameras, and a 4,000mAh battery. As with other cheaper Nokia handsets, the Nokia 2.3 doesn't include a fingerprint reader for biometric security, but it does have facial recognition.
The Nokia 2.3 ships with Android Pie, but it will get an upgrade to Android 10 shortly. The Nokia 2.3 is part of the Android One program, which ensures the phone will get at least two major operating system updates and three years of monthly security patches.
You'll be able to grab the Nokia 2.3 in a choice of Cyan Green, Sand, or Charcoal from January 23 for $199. JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Big W, The Good Guys, and Officeworks will all be ranging the Nokia 2.3, and it will also be coming to Telstra shortly.
