You can now get your hands on the Nokia 1 Plus, HMD's latest entry-level smartphone. The device is powered by Android Pie Go Edition, a lighter take on Android tuned for faster and smoother performance on entry-level hardware. Apps start faster, the operating system takes up less storage, and Google has redesigned many of its apps to be lighter and less data-intensive.
And as with the Nokia Android One devices, you're guaranteed monthly security updates. You'll get two years of monthly security updates, and two years of major operating system upgrades. In the third year, the Nokia 1 Plus will still receive security updates, but bundled and released on a quarterly basis.
HMD says there's a big focus on toughness with the Nokia 1 Plus - it's meant to deliver "Nokia quality" at an accessible price. Despite this, it's 12% slimmer than its predecessor, last year's Nokia 1.
Key specifications include a 5.45-inch 480p+ display, a MediaTek MT6739WW quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 2,500mAh battery.
Outright, you'll pay $169 for the Nokia 1 Plus. Alternatively, you can pick it up through Vodafone prepaid for $129 with a $30 SIM Starter Pack and a bonus blue swappable back plate. This will however mean your Nokia 1 Plus will be locked to Vodafone's network. You'll pay a $50 fee if you want to unlock your Nokia 1 Plus in your first six months, and $25 thereafter.
