Motorola is set to unveil a new version of the iconic RAZR at LA event on November 13 (potentially November 14 AEST) according to CNET. Pitched as a "highly anticipated unveiling of a reinvited icon", it's expected that Motorola will be bringing back the RAZR flip-phone as a foldable smartphone similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X. Rumours about a foldable RAZR have been circulating since January this year.
While a foldable RAZR would use similar technology to the Galaxy Fold and Mate X, the design is expected to be very different. Instead of opening out to be a tablet size, it's expected that the RAZR will have a standard size smartphone screen that folds down into a smaller form-factor to better fit in pockets. Essentially, a foldable in a flip phone form-factor.
Previous rumours pegged the price a foldable RAZR at USD$1,500, which is about $2,200 based on current exchange rates. That would make the RAZR the cheapest foldable around; we're expecting the Galaxy Fold to cost around $3,000 locally and the Mate X over $4,000.
