Moto G84

Motorola has saved its best for last, rounding out its 2023 roster with the new Moto G84.

Billed as the "flagship" of the company's family of thrifty mid-rangers, the Moto G84 boasts a 6.5-inch pOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate plus both 10-bit and DCI-P3 colour. Under the hood, the handset rocks a Snapdragon 695 5G processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of onboard storage, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Out of the box, the Moto G84 will come powered by Android 13. Over the long run, Motorola said it plans to support the device with one year of software updates and three years of security patches.

When it comes to cameras, the budget-friendly handset is built around a dual-lens setup that consists of a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. It also comes armed with Dolby Atmos speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a pair of physical SIM slots (which helps offset the lack of eSIM) and even a headphone jack.

Head of Motorola Greater Asia Pacific Kurt Bonnici said that the Moto G84 was a response to growing interest from consumers in budget-friendly options that don't come with the usual compromises when it comes to features and design.

"Alongside the recently launched Moto G14 and Moto G54, the Moto G84 5G completes Motorola’s Moto G family's new additions for 2023, giving consumers access to the latest technology at a range of accessible price points and in an array of colour options and finishes.”

In Australia, the Moto G84 comes in three colours: the Midnight Blue and Viva Magenta variants are available widely, but the Marshmallow Blue model is exclusive to JB Hi-Fi.

Regardless of which shade you settle on, you'll be able to find the device through the aforementioned plus Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, and Big W and Amazon from this week at a recommended retail price of $399. The Moto G84 isn't currently available on a phone plan, only outright.
