Motorola has announced local pricing and availability for two new mid-tier phones - the Edge 50 Pro (pictured above) and the Edge 50 Fusion - with the former available from today. The devices retail for $999 and $599 respectively, and anyone who picks up the Edge 50 Pro before May 14 will get a free pair of Moto Buds Plus, valued at $249. These earbuds need to be redeemed through the Motorola website by May 31.

The Moto Buds Plus feature "sound by Bose", which Motorola says leverages Bose's expertise for audio quality and noise cancellation. While Motorola is quite vague, a Bose spokesperson told The Verge the brands worked closely to ensure the Buds Plus "delivered a premium audio and [noise-cancelling] experience for the category and price range they’re in".
Other key features for the Moto Buds Plus include wireless charging, Dolby Head Tracking when used with Motorola phones, multi-point, and a water-repellent design. There's no formal IP rating, however. Battery life is rated at up to eight hours per charge with noise cancelling off, for a total playtime of 38 hours. Motorola hasn't provided a spec for how long the battery should last with noise cancelling on.
As for the phones themselves, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is the type of device that sits at the top of the midrange. The hardware isn't quite flagship grade - the processor is a step down from phones like the Galaxy S24, for example - but it still has premium trimmings like water resistance, wireless charging, and eSIM support.
Key specifications include a 6.7-inch 1220p display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery. In terms of cameras, the Edge 50 Pro has a 50MP primary lens, 13MP primary ultra-wide lens, and 10MP 3x zoom lens. There's a 50MP selfie camera on the front.
One unique camera feature is Pantone colour validation. Motorola has worked with Pantone to ensure the Edge 50 Pro captures colours and skin tones like "you see them".
Motorola says the Edge 50 Pro will get three major operating system upgrades and four years of bi-monthly security updates. The phone is available now in a choice of black or purple. A limited edition pearl finish will launch in May.

Meanwhile, the Edge 50 Fusion (pictured above) is a slightly more stripped-down version of the Pro. The screen is lower resolution, the phone has one less camera on the back, and the processor is a bit older. It does have a larger battery, however. Notably, the Edge 50 Fusion is still rated IP68 for water resistance, which isn't always given for phones in its price bracket.
Key specifications for the Edge 50 Fusion include a 6.7-inch 1080p+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. There's a 32MP camera on the front, and 50MP and 13MP cameras on the back.
Like the Edge 50 Pro, the Edge 50 Fusion will get three major operating system upgrades and four years of bi-monthly security updates. The phone will be available at the end of May, in a choice of pink, "marshmallow blue", or "forest blue".
