Australia and New Zealand have finally received an official release date and prices for the Moto 360 smartwatch. Coming to both countries on October 31, it will go for AU$329 or NZ$359, depending on your location.

Initially, only two colour options will be available: black stainless steel with a black leather band, and silver stainless steel with a grey leather band. A metal band version will become available in early 2015, probably for a higher price.

The good news is that all you really need to focus on is the colour of the watchface unit itself. Decide between black or silver, then change the watchband up at a later date. It’s a standard watchband connection, although it’s hidden right inside the back of the device so you’ll probably need to get a professional watch repairer to do the actual switching.

About the Moto 360

The hype has died down significantly by now, but the Moto 360 has been by far the most talked-about smartwatch of this year. It’s the first to hit shelves with a round watch-face, and the first time a manufacturer has demonstrated the forethought to design a wearable piece of technology that conforms to an established fashion accessory, instead of hoping that it would sell on its own futuristic merits.

It charges wirelessly using its own dock; is IP67 water-resistant, meaning you can fully submerse it for short period of time with no worry; and is 46mm in diameter.

Any Android device running Android 4.3 or higher is compatible with the Moto 360, or any Android Wear smartwatch for that matter.

So, what do you think: is the fact that the Moto 360 looks like an actual watch enough to get you on-board the wearables train, or are you still waiting to see how the market plays out?
