LG's upcoming Velvet might be a pretty conventional smartphone for all intents and purposes, but the manufacturer clearly isn't quite done with zany ideas.
According to a report published by the Korean Herald, LG is working on a dual-screen smartphone with a display that swivels into a horizontal position to reveal a secondary screen. Codenamed Wing, the design is expected to be similar to the company's feature phones from over a decade ago, such as the LB1500 (pictured below). Of course, these phones swivelled to reveal their keyboard, rather than a touch screen.

ETNews says Wing will have a 6.8-inch primary display paired with a smaller square 4-inch display underneath. The design seems most suited toward multi-tasking while watching a video. It's easy to imagine bingeing Netflix on the primary 6.8-inch screen, while keeping up with your group chats on the smaller display. And given the "normal" width of the smaller display, it should be easier to type on than the LG V50 when paired with its Dual Display accessory.
In addition, ETNews suggests the second display could also be used for multitasking with the same app. For example, if you were looking at a photo on the primary display, the secondary screen would be home to your editing controls.
In terms of specs, the device is expected to be powered by a midrange 7-series Snapdragon processor, tout three rear-facing cameras, and have 5G connectivity. LG reportedly plans to launch the device in the second half of this year, at a price of approximately $1,260 based on current exchange rates.
