If you're hoping to pre-order one of Samsung's new foldable devices, you have two main options: you can pick one up on a plan, or buy one outright.
Buying your Z Flip 5 or Z Fold 5 on a phone plan has the advantage of spreading out the damage over a longer period of time. Instead of spending upward of $1,600 in one go, you'll pay a lower monthly fee each month - especially if you opt for a 36-month plan.
The downside to this is you're effectively locked to your telco for that period of time, unless you want to pay out your remaining handset repayments in one lump sum.
If you buy outright, you're down for a pretty expensive purchase upfront. This does however mean you instantly own your phone, and can get better value on your mobile plan by getting a SIM-only option from a smaller provider.
Pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 5 on a plan
If you're looking to purchase your Galaxy Z Flip 5 on a plan, Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone are are all taking pre-orders. All three providers are offering the new devices on 24-month and 36-month repayments.
No matter where you pre-order from, you'll get a free memory upgrade. This means you can get the 512GB Galaxy Z Flip 5 for the price of the 256GB model. As such, we're only showing 512GB plans. Telstra and Vodafone aren't even taking pre-orders for the 256GB option.
Optus: If you pre-order your Galaxy Z Flip 5 with Optus, you'll also get a bonus Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and bonus Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.
Vodafone: If you pre-order your Galaxy Z Flip 5 through Vodafone and trade in your old phone, you'll get $500 of bonus credit.

Pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 5 on a plan
Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone are also taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Once again, you'll pick from a 24-month or 36-month repayment term.

When will I get my new phone?
Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 pre-orders run until August 17, with the phones becoming officially available on August 18. If you pre-order early and you're in a metro area, you've got a good chance of getting your phone on August 18. In previous years, some lucky pre-order customers have even gotten their phones early.
