Samsung has expanded some of the Galaxy S24 family's AI features to older devices via the One UI 6.1 update, which is now available to Australians. The Galaxy S23 family - including the Galaxy S23 FE -, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, and Tab S9 family all get AI features in One UI 6.1.
Galaxy AI features being added to older phones include the following:
- Live two-way translation on phone calls with transcription
- An Interpreter app for translation for in-person conversations
- Generative edits for photos
- Web page summaries
- Summaries and autoformatting for notes
- Circle to Search - a feature where you can circle anything on your display to start a Google search
It's worth noting that Galaxy AI features will only be free until the end of 2025. Samsung has said it may start charging for some functionality from 2026 onward, but it hasn't said much about what this might look like, or what features could be put behind the paywall.
Samsung owners with eligible devices can upgrade to One UI 6.1 via the Settings app.
