Death Stranding is set to launch on iPhone next week, with a 50% discount available to anyone who pre-orders through the App Store. Customers who purchase it in the lead-up to the January 31 release date will pay $29.99 in Australia. We're expecting a full price of $59.99.
The game is the third AAA title to hit iOS, following Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4. As with the other two games, Death Stranding is exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. It will however also run on any iPad or Mac powered by an M1 chip or better.
A single purchase unlocks the game on all three platforms, and save data can be synced between them. As such, you can start playing Death Stranding on your MacBook Air, and then pick up where you left off.
While Death Stranding will have touch controls, it seems like the type of game that will work better with a controller. Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch controllers can all connect to an iPhone via Bluetooth. Alternatively, you can consider a cradle controller like the Backbone One, which we reviewed a few years ago. The Backbone One sells for $179 in Australia.
Death Stranding is a Hideo Kojima game where you play a courier trekking across a post-apocalyptic America, delivering supplies to isolated colonies. It was first released on PlayStation 4 in 2019.
