Belkin today launched a new Boost Charge Power Bank designed specifically for iPhone and iPad. Unlike the company's past power packs, it has a Lightning port. This means the same cable you use to charge your iPhone can charge the Power Bank - perfect if you're an iPhone owner who wants to reduce the number of cables you carry around.
Most other portable batteries on the market recharge over microUSB, but some have started moving to USB Type-C.
The new Boost Charge Power Bank is certified by Apple's licensing program, MFi, guarantees its compatibility with iPhone and iPad.
The Power Bank comes in two options:
- 5,000mAh battery for $69.95
- 10,000mAh battery, for $89.95
Belkin says the 5,000mAh model should provide enough charge for 35 additional hours of video playback for the iPhone 8, while the 10,000mAh model should provide 70. Both models can be recharged by Lightning connector as well as an iPhone/iPad charging dock.
The Boost Charge is the first Power Bank Belkin has released with a Lighting port, although it's not the first of its kind. Manufacturer Mophie also sells portable batteries with a Lightning port. They're available in Australia exclusively through the Apple Store, starting at $89.95 for the 6,000mAh model.
The Boost Charge from Belkin comes with a two-year warranty and the 10,000mAh model also comes has a second USB-A ports for charging two devices at once.
Both models are on sale in Australia today through the Belkin online store, JB Hi-Fi and others. The Power Banks are currently available in black only, with white coming in the new year.
