After closing almost every store across the globe in March in response to COVID-19, Apple today announced that it will reopen its Australian retail outlets from Thursday. The stores will operate on reduced hours, however, staying open from just 10am to 5pm each day.
In addition, Apple will enforce strict social distancing measures. The number of customers in a store at one time will be limited, customers will need to stay 2 metres apart, and will be required to undergo a temperature check before even entering the store.
The main reason Apple is reopening its stores is to provide support and repairs through its Genius Bars. If you're after repairs, you should definitely book an appointment ahead of time. The company is recommending that anyone after a new device order online instead, or use click-and-collect in order to minimise time in store.
The Sydney CBD store on George St is the only Australian Apple Store that will not reopen on Thursday, as it is currently undergoing renovations.
