Apple is exploring the idea of a flip-style foldable iPhone, according to a report published by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The "iPhone Flip" would take on a similar form-factor to devices like Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip family and Motorola's rebooted Razrs: a large phone that folds down into a smaller one.
Gurman says that a flip-style iPhone isn't guaranteed to launch, and is more so Apple thinking about what comes next after the book-style foldable it is expected to ship in September this year.
"Apple is betting that its first foldable iPhone will be successful enough to generate real demand for the category and that customers will want additional shapes and sizes, much as they have with traditional slab-style iPhones," says Gurman.
The first foldable iPhone is expected to be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, featuring a 5.5-inch display on the outside, and unfolding to reveal a 7.7-inch inner screen. Previous rumours have suggested it may look like two iPhone Airs stuck together.
Apple is tipped to reveal the "iPhone Fold" alongside the iPhone 18 family.
