Australians can finally get their hands (heads?) on a Vision Pro with pre-orders starting at 10pm AEST tonight ahead of a July 12 release date.
Australian pricing for the Vision Pro starts at $5,999 for a 256GB model. This jumps to $6,349 for 512GB, or $6,669 for 1TB. The Vision Pro will be available online and at Apple Stores, and prospective customers will be able to book a 30-minute demo session after pre-orders open.
When customers order a Vision Pro, they'll need to complete a face scan using an iPhone or iPad with Face ID and the latest version of the Apple Store app. This scan helps users find the optimal Light Seal and headband size, to get the right fit for the Vision Pro.
As part of the purchasing process, customers will be asked about their vision to determine if they need Optical Inserts. A prescription can be uploaded at time of purchase, or within 30 days of placing an order. Glasses can't be worn while using the Vision Pro.
In terms of accessories, ZEISS Optical Inserts will start at $169 for readers, or $249 for prescription. A Travel Case is available for $349. AppleCare Plus for Vision Pro will set you back $849.
On top of announcing Australian availability, Apple detailed new features coming to Vision Pro later this year in visionOS 2. These include new hand gestures for navigating the operating system, train support in travel mode, a larger virtual display to use with a Mac, and the ability to create spatial photos from 2D images.
