The final version of newly christened Android 10 is now live. For the those with Pixel smartphones, at the least.
Android 10 is available on every Pixel smartphone to date, ranging from the original Pixel to the recent Pixel 3a. Given that the original Pixel was only promised two years of operating system updates (taking it through to Android Pie), the Android 10 upgrade is a pleasant surprise for Google's earliest adopters.
To check for the update, you'll want to open the Settings app, tap System, tap Advanced, and then tap System Update.
If you don't own a Pixel device, Android 10 availability is a little more up in the air. HMD has confirmed that Nokia smartphones will start getting updated in 2019's final quarter. Huawei, LG, and OPPO had devices in the Android 10 beta program, so we're expecting to see these phones to get the update in a punctual manner.
Key new Android 10 features include a system-wide dark mode, predictive smart replies, a focus mode to silence notifications from apps you find distracting, better navigation gestures, improved security updates, and more.
It is however worth noting that not all first party Google apps support dark mode yet (Gmail, for example), and focus mode is still in beta.
