The Galaxy A54 is one of Samsung's latest increasingly popular and affordable A-series smartphones. Despite borrowing more than a few features from Samsung's pricier S-series, the Galaxy A54 has a much more palatable $699 price tag.
If you're looking to get your hands on the Galaxy A54, it's available now. And there's a launch offer. If you buy it before April 13, you'll get a bonus 40mm Galaxy Watch 4 valued at $399 (although currently selling for $249).
Samsung Galaxy A54 plans
The Galaxy A54 is available on plans from Telstra and Optus. Both providers offer the choice of 24-month plans and 36-month plans.
How much does the Samsung Galaxy A54 cost in Australia?
The Galaxy A54 is priced at $699 outright and comes in a single 128GB model. This makes it identical to what you'd pay for a Galaxy A53 last year.
If you'd prefer to save a little bit of money, Samsung charges $599 for the Galaxy A34. Click here to read our guide on how the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 compare.
Samsung Galaxy A54 features
Galaxy A54 design
The Galaxy A54 takes a couple of flourishes from the Galaxy S23 family. Like its flagship siblings, it no longer has a camera bump. Instead, the individual camera lenses protrude from the phone's back.
The Galaxy A54 has a 6.4-inch flat display with a hole-punch selfie camera. It runs at a 1080p+ resolution and has a 120Hz refresh rate. Unlike most phones in this price bracket, the Galaxy A54 has an IP67 rating for water resistance.
You can get the Galaxy A54 in a choice of Awesome Violet or Awesome Graphite.
Galaxy A54 camera
The Galaxy A54 has three rear-facing cameras: a 50MP primary lens, 12MP ultra-wide lens, and 5MP macro lens. On the front, you'll find a 32MP selfie camera.
Galaxy A54 battery
The Galaxy A54 has a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging. Samsung says the phone can last up to two full days per charge.
Galaxy A54 processor
The Galaxy A54 is powered by a Samsung-made Exynos 1380 processor. It will run Android 13 out of the box and get four major Android operating system updates and five years of security updates.
Galaxy A54 5G
The Galaxy A54 has 5G connectivity.
WhistleOut's coverage checker tool has 5G coverage maps, making it easy to see whether you can get 5G. All you need to do is pop in your address when searching for a new phone plan. After you've done so and hit Search, you can jump straight to the coverage map by tapping See Coverage Map and then tapping Click To Activate Interactive Map.
This map will show you what kind of coverage you have in your area. 5G coverage is highlighted using the darkest shade of purple, but unticking 4G and 3G can help make it clearer. The drop-down menu lets you choose between telcos.
Coverage maps are only approximate, only show outdoor coverage, and may be impacted by local conditions such as buildings.

Samsung Galaxy A54 plan providers
Telstra and Optus are both offering the Galaxy A54 on plans. Here's a breakdown of the major benefits you can expect each provider to offer.
Telstra Galaxy A54 plans
Telstra Galaxy plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks.
Telstra lets you pay your Galaxy off over 12, 24, or 36 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.
Optus Galaxy A54 plans
Optus Galaxy plans come with solid data inclusions.
Higher-end Optus plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan.
All Optus plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.
In addition, all Optus postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, you'll be slowed to 1.5Mbps rather than being billed $10 per gigabyte.
How to choose the best Samsung Galaxy A54 plan for you
There are a few key factors to keep in mind when picking a Samsung Galaxy A54 plan:
- Answering "how much mobile data do I use" can help you avoid overspending. Don't pay for more data than you need
- Decide whether you want to pay off your phone shorter on a 24-month plan or get a smaller bill over a longer period of time on a 36-month plan
- If you're a frequent overseas traveller consider any international roaming inclusions
- You may also want to make international phone calls so check if the destinations you may be calling are included in your plan
We think the Galaxy A54 is Samsung's best budget phone. For a breakdown of the best Samsung plans - from unlimited data plans to plans with international calls - check out our guide.
