Google just announced its latest Pixel devices, and the Pixel 11 Pro is the smallest of the "flagship" options. Key upgrades include the Tensor G6 chipset, improved main and zoom cameras, and the "HiLight" notification light.

Pixel 11 Pro pre-orders are now live ahead of an August 20 release date.

How much does the Google Pixel 11 Pro cost in Australia?

You'll spend a minimum of $1,849 if you're after a Pixel 11 Pro, which gets you the 256GB model. That's the same as a 256GB Pixel 11 Pro, but there's no 128GB variant this time. You can also get a 512GB model for $2,049 or a 1TB model for $2,399.

Google Pixel 11 Pro design

The Pixel 11 Pro isn't too different from last year's model design-wise, holding firm with a 6.3-inch display protected with Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Google says scratch resistance has been improved, and the panel is brighter.

In addition, the camera bar has gotten a literal glow-up. It is now glass across the entire width, and features a notification light called "HiLight". Contacts can be assigned custom colours to provide a visual cue for who is calling.

The Pixel 11 Pro is available in a choice of Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyoo.

The Pixel 11 Pro features new primary and 5x zoom lenses. Both are still 50MP and 48MP respectively, but the zoom lens has a larger sensor backing it, which should in turn increase photo quality. These are paired with the same 48MP ultra-wide camera and 42MP selfie camera from last year's model.

The Pixel 11 Pro has a 4,850mAh battery, which is similar to last year's model. Google says the Pixel 11 Pro will last up to 30 hours per charge. The Pixel 11 Pro has faster wireless charging, with 25W speeds, up from 15W on the Pixel 10 Pro.

The Pixel 11 Pro is powered by Google's new Tensor G6 chipset. Google says the processor delivers 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster app loading.

Google says the Pixel 11 Pro will get seven years of major operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates. This is a best-in-class promise for an Android device. As such, we're expecting Android 23 to be the last version of Android the Pixel 11 Pro will be upgraded to.

Google Pixel 11 Pro 5G

The Pixel 11 Pro naturally has 5G connectivity. WhistleOut's coverage checker tool has 5G coverage maps, making it easy to see whether you can get 5G. Telstra Pixel plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks.

Telstra lets you pay your Pixel off over 12, 24, or 36 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.

Telstra still has Australia's largest mobile network, covering over 2.14 million square kilometres. In addition, Telstra has a partnership with Starlink operator SpaceX, allowing you to send text messages via satellite when mobile coverage is unavailable. A clear view of the sky is needed for this.

Telstra is the only telco in Australia to still have a rewards program. As a customer, you earn points for every dollar spent with Telstra, which can then be redeemed for discounts on new tech.
