Amazon's video streaming service has officially gone global, and is now available in Australia with smartphone, tablet, and smart TV apps in tow.

Dubbed Amazon Prime Video, the service is available at an introductory price of USD$2.99 per month for the first six months. After this point, you'll be billed USD$5.99. While the service is billed in US dollars, this converts to approximately $4 and $8 per month, respectively.

Videos can be streamed in 4K, provided your internet is fast enough, and up to three devices can stream video through the same account at once.

Select Prime Video titles are available for offline viewing, and can be downloaded to iOS and Android devices, and Amazon's Fire tablets. The time that a downloaded episode or movie can be viewed for varies from title to title.

While Prime Video's Australian library isn't huge yet, there's still lots of watch. A number of Amazon's original series are available to stream, including The Grand Tour, The Man in the High Castle, and Red Oaks. This is backed up with every episode of Seinfeld, Justified, and The Shield.

A hundred or so movies including Pulp Fiction, Jurassic Park, No Country For Old Men, and The Godfather trilogy are also available.

Amazon Prime Video apps are available for iOS, Android, and select LG and Sony Smart TVs.

About this Service

WhistleOut maintains a broad list of service providers and we endeavour to include at least the top ten service providers in every category so that you can make a transparent choice. When you see a 'promoted product' or a product with a 'go to site' button it means that WhistleOut is earning a transaction click fee for the referral. We audit the prices in our database regularly and we don't alter the ranking of products in our organic search based on any commercial relationship. Find out more here
