TPG just raised the pricing for some of its NBN plans ahead of the wholesale increases from NBN Co, which will kick in on July 1. TPG's prices have increased between $3 and $5 on all of the its NBN plans, except from its NBN 100 and NBN 500 products, which are unchanged. The new pricing is already in effect and will apply to existing customers from their next billing cycle.
This isn’t the first pre-emptive increase we’ve seen ahead of the July 1 date, but this early bump shouldn't cost TPG’s customers much more than if the telco waited until the end of this month.
Here’s a quick look which of TPG’s NBN plans received a price hike and by how much:
| NBN plan | New price | Old price | Price increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| NBN 25 | $79.99 | $76.99 | $3.00 |
| NBN 50 | $89.99 | $84.99 | $5.00 |
| NBN 100 | $94.99 | $94.99 | $0.00 |
| NBN 500 | $94.99 | $94.99 | $0.00 |
| NBN 750 | $104.99 | $99.99 | $5.00 |
| NBN 1000 | $114.99 | $109.99 | $5.00 |
While TPG’s new pricing follows a trend of focusing the higher costs towards its lowest-cost plans, we do at least see the NBN 750 and NBN 1000 plans matching suit. This is in contrast to a few other providers – like Optus, Telstra, and Dodo, among others – that have only increased the price of their cheapest plans.
