Buddy tends to come out in the top 10 cheapest plans based on average monthly cost for its NBN 50, NBN 100 and NBN 1000 plans. Although there are other good options for those looking for thrifty or affordable internet plans in Australia.

Buddy is Aussie Broadband's budget brand, which sells no-frills plans but is backed by Aussie's technology.

The main difference is that Buddy customers are supported by live chat and AI support (outside of business hours) rather than Aussie's award-winning customer call centre service.

WhistleOut can confirm that Buddy Telco will be going against the grain and won't be increasing the cost of its NBN plans in line with wholesale price changes this year.

Aussie Broadband, Telstra, Belong and Tangerine have all recently announced changes.

Aussie Broadband Chief Strategy Officer Jonathan Prosser told WhistleOut, "We wanted to establish Buddy with a self-service model because we knew it would enable a way to provide more longer-term affordable internet for people who don't need the bells and whistles that come with more premium offerings.

"By relying on the smarts of our clever Live Chat team, the brilliant Buddy Bot and our new approach, we've been able to keep Buddy's pricing stable so people can continue to get fast, reliable internet at a great rate without any hidden fees or long-term contracts."

Prosser also hinted that Buddy will soon be making its foray into the mobile market, adding "-we can't wait to expand Buddy's efforts into the mobile space real soon."
