Queen Latifah once said, “I don’t care how much money you have, free stuff is always a good thing” and Belong - Telstra’s budget brand - appears to be on the same page. To help sway the decisions of potential customers, new Belong customers will automatically receive $15 off their bill for the first six months when they sign up for the provider’s NBN 100 plan.
The plan itself totals $75 for the first six months and $90 per month thereafter and includes a bonus preloaded Belong mobile SIM if customers are interested in swapping mobile providers. It also ensures they’ll stay connected while it sets up their new NBN service (but the change shouldn’t take long if already connected to the NBN).
To save a little extra on top, Belong allows customers to bring their own modem to save on upfront costs. The price of adding a new modem is around $60 so by simply bringing their own, they can waive this fee from the get-go. This offer is only available until May 10, 2022.
Let's say someone is keen to switch to Belong and like the sound of scoring a free mobile SIM, but they’re looking for something a little different in terms of internet speed or price. There are a few options available that come with the same mobile SIM bonus deal but only the NBN 100 plan has the $15 per month discount. Each plan has unlimited data, but you’ll pay around $60 per month for NBN 25 or around $70 for NBN 50.
However, if an NBN 100 plan is the top priority but they want to explore other providers for a cheaper deal, we have a number of alternatives.
Above is a breakdown of other NBN 100 plans ranging from $70 to $100 a month. Several offer bonuses to sweeten the deal, similar to Belong’s initial six-month discount.
Each plan varies with enticing features, like Tangerine’s handy 14-day trial, Mate’s award-winning customer service, and SpinTel’s option to bundle services to save more money. But the most important thing to remember here is comparing apples with apples. Customers need to pay close attention to what they’re getting for their money, such as typical evening speeds, contract terms, upfront costs, etc.
