We've talked before about why Woolworths Mobile is an unexpectedly good option for picking up a new Samsung or OPPO device on a two-year plan. Now, there's even more reason to consider the Telstra MVNO when it's time to upgrade your smartphone: the launch of all-new, multi-option Woolworths Flexi Mobile Plans.
The newly unveiled plans give customers more choice when it comes to both paying for and upgrading their devices. Instead of being limited to a 24-month handset repayment term, Woolworths Mobile customers can now spread the cost of a new phone over 36 months.
New payment options + early upgrades
You'll still pay the same amount in total for your new device, but will pay less each month by selecting the longer 36-month payment plan. Customers also have the option of upgrading to a new smartphone after 12 months of payments; to be eligible, you'll need to return your current phone to Woolworths in good working condition, and pay a one-off upgrade fee.
Upgrade fees will vary depending on how many payments you've made on your device. If you decide to upgrade at or after 12 months, you'll pay $199, but upgrades after 24 months of payments incur a lower $99 charge.
Even more good news? You won't be stuck on the same service plan for the entirety of your handset repayment period. Customers can now change their Flexi Mobile Plan once every 12 months without impacting their phone payments, or incurring termination or switching fees.
Flexi Mobile Plans: no more bill shock
All of the new postpaid Flexi Mobile Plans include unlimited standard national calls and SMS, plus 4G data and international SMS as outlined below.
$30 Small Plan:
- 5GB of data per month
- 200 standard international SMS
$40 Medium Plan:
- 10GB of data per month
- Unlimited standard international SMS
$50 Large Plan:
- 15GB of data per month
- Unlimited standard international SMS
Woolworths Mobile is also promising customers 'zero bill shock', meaning you'll never pay unexpected charges for exceeding your plan inclusions. There's no surprise overages on Flexi Plans; if you reach your monthly data limit, you'll need to either buy extra gigabytes, or wait until your next billing cycle until your data use resets.
Extras and add-on packs
Add-ons for both data and international calling are also available. Customers can add 1GB of extra data for $10, 3GB for $25, or 5GB for $35, either as a one-off or a monthly extra. If you'd like international options, prices are below.
$4 International Add-on: 50 minutes of international calls to 36 countries
$10 International Add-on: 300 minutes of international calls to 36 countries
$15 International Add-on: Unlimited international calls to 10 countries, plus 300 minutes to 36 countries
Phone options
If you're thinking about signing up for a Woolies plan, you can select from around a dozen Samsung and OPPO devices. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are available from $79.58 per month and $86.20 per month respectively for both plan and phone, while the OPPO R11 starts from $$57.04 per month on the Small plan.
There's also mid-range options from both companies available, including the OPPO R9 series and the Samsung Galaxy A5. And if you're concerned about coverage, Woolworths uses Telstra's 4G and 3G networks, giving customers great signal strength and speeds.
