gomo is going dark, with the Optus-powered provider teasing big changes in the months ahead and setting a deadline for its new customers looking to activate their service.
"gomo is undergoing some changes in the coming months," the gomo website reads.
Those who haven't done yet so won't have the chance. As of this week, the MVNO is no longer accepting new customers. Meanwhile, Aussies who have recently bought a gomo SIM card have until July 10 to activate their phone plan.
As for existing customers, gomo says that their service won't be affected. At least not yet.
Optus launched gomo back in 2021. With a single mobile plan and an app-first consumer experience, it was pitched as Optus' equivalent to Vodafone's felix or Telstra's Belong sub-brands.
It's unclear how long gomo will be operating in this more limited capacity nor what it will look like on the other side of it. We'll have to wait and see.
