Alcatel 1

Alcatel is bringing four new sub $200 phones to market this August, all kitted out with trendy "all screen" 18:9 displays.

The cheapest device in the family - the Alcatel 1C - will retail for under $89 locally, making it the cheapest phone to date to feature the newfangled aspect ratio. The display measures in at 5.3-inches and runs at 480p+. Other specifications include a 1.3GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 2,460mAh battery. The Alcatel 1C is however only 3G and runs the somewhat dated Android Nougat.

If you'd prefer 4G connectivity, you can pick from the Alcatel 1 and Alcatel 1X. Both devices run Android Go, a version of Android tuned for faster and smoother performance on entry-level hardware. Apps start 15% faster, the entire OS is smaller so that phones have more available storage out of the box, and Google has redesigned many of its apps to be lighter and less data intensive.

Key specifications for the Alcatel 1 include a 5-inch 480p+ display, a 1.28GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, a 5MP rear-facing camera, and a 2,000mAh battery.

Key specifications for the Alcatel 1X include a 5.3-inch 480p+ display, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 2,460mAh battery.

Neither the Alcatel 1 or the Alcatel 1X have a fingerprint reader. They'll set you back $99 and $129, respectively.

Alcatel 3V

If you're after something a little fancier without breaking the bank, the Alcatel 3V will be available for $199 and adds a sleeker design, a fingerprint reader, facial recognition, and a second rear-facing camera to the mix.

Key specifications for the Alcatel 3V include a 6-inch 1080p+ display, a quad-core MT8735A processor, either 16GB or 32GB of expandable storage, a 12MP rear-facing camera paired with a secondary 2MP lens for depth perception, and a 3,000mAh battery.

Alcatel has yet to confirm which retailers will range its new devices.
