Vivo today announced the local availability of its Y52 5G, the latest handset to claim the title of "Australia's cheapest 5G phone". Coming in at $379, the Vivo Y52 5G undercuts the $399 OPPO A54 5G for the budget throne, but is available for an even cheaper $349 from select retailers until August 17.
As a budget phone, the phone's hardware is on the more modest side. Key specifications include a 6.57-inch 1080p+ display, a MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 CPU, 128GB of expandable storage, 4GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery. The rear-facing camera setup is made up of a 48MP primary lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth lens.
The Vivo Y52 is available in graphite black from Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Big W, The Good Guys, Officeworks, Amazon, Kogan, and Mobileciti.
As always, it's worth remembering there's no need to rush out and own a 5G phone for the sake of owning a 5G phone. You won't get any benefits in the short term. 5G connectivity is a welcome bit of future-proofing, but we'll be curious to see how the Vivo Y52 5G stacks up when you're not considering the next-generation network.
