Telstra and video on demand service Presto have inked a deal to allow Telstra to resell Presto TV and Movie subscriptions as part of future products, with existing mobile customers to benefit immediately.
While it might be assumed that a streaming video service fits well in a home broadband bundle, Telstra is actually looking to bundle the TV and Movie subscription with mobile and tablet products too.
Existing Telstra mobile customers are being offered a complimentary 3-months free access to Presto, available now until 27 April.
Home broadband customers on either Telstra Bigpond or Foxtel Bigpond can sign up for Presto and not worry about the data the service will use. All data used by Presto apps with be unmetered.
This is an important distinction for mobile customers to keep in mind. While the subscription to Presto is free for 3-month, you will have to pay for an mobile data you use watching the service on your phone or tablet.
In similar news, Optus and iiNet have both confirmed that home broadband customers will enjoy unmetered data when watch Netflix, after it launches at the end of March. Vodafone has partnered with the third major streaming service, Stan, giving its customers on Red Plans a free subscription to this service, or free music through Spotify.
