Sony has become one of the brands to beat when it comes to noise-cancelling headphones, and today is expanding its audio range with a new pair of wire-free noise-cancelling earbuds.
Despite using an in-ear form-factor, Sony says the WF-1000XM3s can block out anything from aircraft cabin to noise to city streets. They do this capturing ambient sound in your environment using microphones and then creating an inverted sound wave to offset your surroundings. If this is even close to as good as what Sony achieved with its over-ear WH-1000XM3s, we'll super impressed.
Noise-cancelling aside, the WF-1000XM3s seem to be fairly typical wire-free headphones, coming in the standard configuration of two individual buds and a charging case. Sony says the buds will last up to six hours per charge when you've got noise cancelling on. In addition, the charging case has enough capacity to give you three extra top ups, for a total battery life of 24 hours.
The Sony WF-1000XM3s will be available in Australia from July for $399.95 in a choice of black or platinum silver.
