Optus' Flybuys plans are back and now you can add a phone on to these deals. The plans themselves are almost identical to last year's offering but this time have a new name, and allow you to bundle available devices alongside them.
The telco is offering three My Plan Plus plans with competitive data inclusions, an Optus Sport subscription, Data Sharing and of course some bonus Flybuys points. Where most plans these days are contract-free, in order to get your points you'll have to choose between a 12 or 24-month commitment. While two years might seem like a long time to stick on one plan, the points may be worth the trade-off especially if you're bundling a phone.
Just be aware that you need a Flybuys membership to sign-up for these plans. If you don't have one, it's free to join.
These are the plans on offer:
- $35 My Plan Plus - $35 per month for 20GB + 20GB bonus
- $45 My Plan Plus - $45 per month for 40GB + 20GB bonus
- $65 My Plan Plus - $65 per month for 80GB
And here are some of the phones available to bundle with these plans.
If you sign up before March 31, you'll get the 20GB bonus data on the $35 and $45 options for the life of your plan. There is no bonus data for the $65 plan.
Opting for a 12-month contract gets you 10,000 points, 15,000 points, or 30,000 points on the $35, $45, and $65 plans respectively. Alternatively 24 months will get you 25,000, 40,000 or 75,000 points.
None of the plans offer unlimited data for when you go over your allowance (which is now standard and capped at 1.5Mbps on other Optus postpaid plans), or international talk options. If you run through your allotted data you'll pay $10 per 1GB and will need to pay as you go for international talk and text. International Roaming add-ons are still available just in case that becomes applicable again.
It is worth noting that the data add-on costs are significantly pricier than those on other Optus plans. Usually you'll pay $5 for 2GB, $10 for 10GB or $5 for unlimited data to use in 24 hours.
Data-to-dollar however, only the $35 My Plus Plan overshadows the provider's usual plans. Promotions aside, $39 with Optus usually buys you 10GB to use over the month, where 60GB costs $49. To get 100GB with the telco you'd normally be looking at $59 per month.
Here are Optus' other plans by way of comparison.
