Microsoft is killing off Windows Mobile this year

Microsoft has put the final nail in coffin for Windows Mobile, confirming that Windows 10 Mobile devices will no longer receive security and software updates from December 10 this year. Technical support for these smartphones will end on the same date.

After the end of support, users will be able to create backups for another three months (ending March 10, 2020), and Microsoft says some services - including photo upload and restoring a device from an existing backup - "may" continue to work up until December 10, 2020.

While Windows 10 Mobile devices will still continue to work after December 10 this year, Microsoft is advising that anyone still using a Windows-powered smartphone migrate to either an iPhone or Android device. If that's you, start your search here.
