Jabra Elite 8 Active and Elite 10

Jabra just announced two new pairs of wireless earbuds, one of which has been rated the toughest in the world.

The Elite 8 Active are the tough buds in question, and come with a whole lot of certifications. The buds themselves are rated IP68 for water resistance, which means they're able to be submerged as deep as 1.5m for up to 30 minutes. Most earbuds tend to only be rated IPX4 for splash resistance. In addition, their case is rated IP54, which gives it splash resistance, and some protection from dust.

Jabra also says the Elite 8 Active can survive drops of up to 1m and is backing up the claim with a MIL-STD-810H certification. Lastly, the buds go through ten cycles of accelerated corrosion testing, to ensure they can survive the sweatiest exercise.

All the tough features are backed up with a rather robust battery. You can expect eight hours per charge with noise cancelling on, and will get up to 32 with the included battery case. If you turn off noise cancelling, these figures rise to 14 hours and 56, respectively.

They'll be available from September 15, priced at $329.

Jabra's second new buds are the Elite 10 - its new flagship model. The key pitch is comfort, through patent pending ear gels that are said to perfectly sculpt to different ear shapes. Jabra says they have a semi-open design that removes the feeling of having your ears plug, and can relieve in-ear pressure from extended usage.

As high-end buds, they naturally support Dolby Atmos and have noise cancellation. You can expect six hours of battery per charge with noise cancellation on, for a total of 27 hours with the case. This rises to eight hours and 36 hours with noise cancellation off, respectively. While not as durable as the Elite 8 Active, the Elite 10 still have IP57 water resistance.

The Elite 10 will set you back $379, and are also launching on September 15.
