The year is almost over but new phones keep on coming. Alcatel today announced the local availability of two new sub-$300 handsets: the Alcatel 3X (pictured above) and the Alcatel 1S.
The Alcatel 3X is the first Alcatel smartphone to include a triple rear-facing camera configuration. This is made up of a 16MP primary lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 5MP depth lens.
Other key specifications for the Alcatel 3X include a 6.52-inch 720p+ display, an eight-core MediaTek Helio P23 processor, 64GB of expandable storage, 4GB of RAM, and a 4,000mAh battery. The Alcatel 3X runs Android Pie out of the box.

The Alcatel 1S (pictured above) is pitched as Alcatel's new "essentials" smartphone. While it's clearly an entry-level product, it ships with 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. Other smartphones in its price bracket typically only have 16GB of storage maximum (although the Realme C2 has 64GB at the same price).
Other key specifications for the Alcatel 1S include a 5.5-inch 720p+ display, an eight-core Unisoc SC9863A processor, 13MP + 2MP rear-facing cameras, and a 3,060mAh battery. The Alcatel 1S runs Android Pie out of the box.
Both the Alcatel 3X and Alcatel 1S are available now, priced at $299 and $199 respectively. You'll find them at JB Hi-Fi.
