The latest iPhones are coming next week. Apple has just officially announced its range of iPhone 15 handsets and
all that's left to do is get your pre-order in.
How do I pre-order the iPhone 15?
There are a couple of ways to lock in your iPhone 15 order so you can be assured you'll get it as soon as possible. You can either order alongside a plan from a telco or order one outright from Apple or any officially licensed store.
No matter which route you choose to go down here are a few steps to keep in mind.
- Choose between buying your new iPhone 15 outright or on a mobile phone plan
- Select which model and size iPhone 15 you're after, and consider any extras you might want
- Compare providers and plans to find the best deal and availability for the model you've settled on
Telstra, Optus and Vodafone usually throw in a pre-order deal so it's worth comparing their offers even if you plan at first to buy the iPhone 15 outright.
Pre-ordering the iPhone 15 on a plan
If you want to get your iPhone 15 on a plan, you can get it through Telstra, Optus, or Vodafone. Each offers the iPhone 15 on either a 12-, 24- or 36-month contract.
To work out how much you'll be paying take the outright price of the iPhone 15 model you're after and divide it by your chosen repayment period. Then add the cost of the monthly SIM plan you plan to get and you'll have calculated an estimate of how much each telco's plan will cost.

When was the new iPhone 15 announced?
The official announcement of the new iPhone 15 happened for Australians in the early hours of Wednesday,
September 13, 2023. While Apple has now unveiled them you won't be able to get your hands on an iPhone 15,
iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro Max until September 22.
When will I get my iPhone 15?
Pre-orders for the iPhone 15 are open from September 15 at 10pm AEST with the new phones being released officially on September 22. If you live in a metropolitan area there's every chance you can expect to receive your phone on release day or within a couple of days. Delivery may take longer if you live further out.
Can I still get an iPhone 15 if I don't preorder?
The best way to guarantee you get an iPhone 15 as soon as possible is to pre-order one. Once they release in stores shipping estimates can quickly blow out. It could lead to weeks of delays if you're after a particular model or colourway that other people are after too. It's not every day we see a pink iPhone for example.
Now, that doesn't mean all is lost. Unless you plan to line up at a store on launch day you should be able to find stock in physical stores once the initial demand drops off.
How much is the new iPhone 15?
There are four different versions of the new iPhone 15. This includes the standard iPhone 15 model, a larger iPhone 15 Plus, the suped up iPhone 15 Pro and finally the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The Pro Max has largely all the same features as the Pro but is larger (like the Plus) and has the best camera in the range. Depending on how much data storage you want each one gets progressively more expensive. Prices start from $1,499 and go all the way up to $2,899.
Here is a breakdown of the iPhone 15's RRPs based on model and size capacity:
| Phone | RRP | Check price on |

| iPhone 15 (256GB) | $1,449 | Amazon |

| iPhone 15 Plus (128GB) | $1,399 | Amazon |
| iPhone 15 Plus (256GB) | $1,599 | Amazon |
| iPhone 15 Plus (512GB) | $1,949 | Amazon |
| iPhone 15 Pro (128GB)* | $1,849 | Amazon |
| iPhone 15 Pro (256GB)* | $2,049 | Amazon |

*iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were discontinued in September 2024. While the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus were given price cuts, this wasn't the case for the Pro models. As such, we're still listing the launch pricing for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max here. You should be able to find them cheaper, however.
What's the cheapest way to get an iPhone 15?
While buying a new iPhone 15 outright is straightforward enough it's also a significant hit on your bank account. If you opt to get the iPhone 15 on a plan from Telstra, Optus or Vodafone you can "smooth" out the cost over 12-, 24- or 36-months. This way you get the phone you want now and pay for it more slowly. A 36-month plan will naturally be the cheapest.
Just keep in mind that plans from these providers tend to be on the more expensive side to begin with. If you can afford the cost of the iPhone 15 upfront and pair it with a SIM-only plan from a cheaper telco you could end up in front in the long run.
