MagSafe has been around since 2020, and the ecosystem of accessories that’ll play nice with Apple’s magnetic charging setup has gone well beyond the basics like chargers and battery packs. You don't even have to use an iPhone to take advantage of it, as more recent Android devices that take advantage of Qi 2 are usually cross-compatible.
You don’t have to look too far to find MagSafe accessories that are a little more specific and strange. Here are the 10 weirdest MagSafe accessories we’ve found through our travels across the wild frontiers of the internet.
Belkin Stage PowerGrip
Honestly, this one’s not even that strange – but it is as ambitious as MagSafe accessories get. Belkin’s Stage Powergrip is a power bank that doubles as a camera grip. It’s capable of charging a connected device both wirelessly via Qi 2 or MagSafe and comes with a concealable USB-C cable for anything else. Once paired with your phone via Bluetooth, you can even use the shutter button on the accessory – which helps keep your camera footage looking a little bit more steady and smooth.
Xteink X4
If you’re tired of carrying around an eReader but don’t want to go back to physical books, the Xteink X4 is an intriguing middle ground. It’s basically a micro-eReader that’s slightly smaller than your phone. The hardware and software isn’t as polished as what you’ll find from a more mainstream like Kobo but the Xteink X4 does have the advantage of being small enough to snap onto the back of your phone (and charge via MagSafe) when not in use.
Clicks Power Keyboard
Clicks has already accrued something of a cult following with its Blackberry-inspired keyboard cases. Now it’s upping the ante and upgrading its tech for the MagSafe era with the new Clicks Power Keyboard. This peripheral attaches to the back of your device using MagSafe and then connects to it using Bluetooth. Once setup, it acts as both of a powerbank and a physical keyboard for those who want more tactile typing on the go.
Ohsnap MCON
If the Clicks Power Keyboard is the MagSafe accessory for those who want to improve their productivity, the Ohsnap MCON is aimed at the opposite end of the spectrum and specifically for gamers. It’s a MagSafe-compatible gaming keyboard that snaps onto the back of your device, offering physical controls at a moment's notice. It even features a detachable kickstand, letting you set up your smartphone like you might a Nintendo Switch.
Aulumu G05 Pro
When it comes to the wackier end of the MagSafe ecosystem, this one is hard to look past. The Aulumu G05 Pro is a slick-looking kickstand that uses MagSafe to attach to the back of your device. It’s made from a glossy and premium-looking aluminum alloy and comes with a built-in swiss-army-knife of additional features, including a knife, screwdriver, file, saw blade, and SIM ejector pin.
Hi By W4
With more and more consumers ditching streaming services like Spotify in favor of older audio formats, it’s no shock that one of the strangest MagSafe accessories out there is this portable Hi-Fi Bluetooth headphone amp. After setting up the HiBy W4 and snapping it onto the back of your smartphone, the hardware here can be used to boost the quality of your music to new heights.
Rhinoshield AquaStand
The RhinoShield AquaStand is one of the more eccentric MagSafe accessories out there. Like many of the other accessories on this list though, it’s wearing a few different hats. It’s a water bottle that doubles as a stand for your phone, thanks to a set of magnets that are built into the lid. It’s nothing too fancy, but it’ll keep you hydrated throughout the day and work as a tripod in a pinch.
Magik Prints
It’s not the most ambitious usage of the technology, but there’s still some charm to be had with Magik Prints. This service lets you upload and print images that can be stuck onto the back of your smartphone (or any other magnetic surface) using MagSafe. It’s the kind of thing that might make for a fun gift for a friend or a cheap way to advertise your business. You could even stick a QR code on there. It’s what you make of it, and at $3 a pop, it’s far from expensive.
UGREEN Airplane Phone Holder for Magsafe
There’s no shortage of MagSafe phone stands and holders out there, but this one is specifically designed to play nice with the back of an airline seat. If you’re looking to play games or watch something on your device rather than take advantage of the usual in-flight entertainment, it’s a great one to have on your person. It can be easily adjusted to suit different seat configurations and won’t break the bank.
SMALLRIG SD/TF Dual-Slot Card Reader
If you’re looking to move camera footage onto your smartphone in a hustle, this SD card reader is hard to beat. It snaps onto the back of your device using MagSafe and then plugs into it via USB-C. It comes in two variants – one of which offers transfer speeds of around 104Mbps via USB 3.0, while the other offers triple that via USB 4.0 – and comes with slots for both SD and TF cards.
