Things you need to know:
An nbn service can never go faster than the maximum line speed available at your premises, so for FTTN/B/C customers we will confirm your maximum attainable speed after connection and let you know if your line is not able to achieve the maximum speed of your plan.
The nbn® tier figures represent wholesale maximum network speeds during off-peak periods. The nbn® tier figures and ‘typical busy period speeds’ are not measures of customers’ actual in-premises speeds, which may be slower. Not all customers receive these speeds. In some cases, the nbn® tier figures and the typical busy period speeds are similar. Find out more about speeds on the nbn network with Telstra.
Plan prices: Your plan and add-ons may change (including price and inclusions). If you don’t like a change, you can change your plan or cancel your plan or add-ons. If you cancel, just pay out your device, accessories and services in full.
High speeds: Typical busy period speeds for Business Pro Fast, Pro Superfast and Pro Ultrafast are an estimate only. We do not have sufficient data yet to calculate the typical busy period speeds. We're still calculating typical busy period download speeds 9am-5pm, weekdays on this plan - the information here is an estimate only. Speeds experienced may be lower due to factors incl. modem and cabling and in-home set up/wiring. For ordinary personal domestic use. For important information on speeds see nbn key facts sheet (PDF, 81KB).
Service Availability: Services not available to all areas or premises.
Installation: Standard installation includes self-installation of your modem, eligibility criteria applies. Extra charges apply for non-standard installation of Telstra and NBN Co equipment and for premises in new developments.
Telstra Smart Modem 4: Mobile backup is available with eligible plans only and to premises in mobile coverage areas. Check coverage at telstra.com/coverage. Your mobile backup connection is capped at 25Mbps for downloads and 5Mbps for uploads.
nbn® New Development Charge: If you’re in a new development without existing phone or internet infrastructure, nbn co may impose a $300 New Development Charge (NDC) to connect you to the nbn network. This includes new lots, subdivisions, and granny flats with a separate address from the primary residence. If applicable, we will bill that charge to you and we will let you know at the time of confirming your order and you will have the option to cancel. Extra charges may apply for non-standard or professional installation of Telstra or nbn co equipment and for premises in new developments. Once you are connected to nbn fibre, you won’t be able to move to our copper network.
Mobile network backup with Telstra Smart Modem 4: Mobile backup is available to premises in mobile coverage areas. Check coverage at telstra.com/coverage. In the event of a fault on the nbn, our Smart Modem can switch your service to our mobile network automatically. We’ll switch your service back to the nbn when the fault is resolved.
The mobile network backup service is uncapped and unshaped when there’s a fault. This means there is no limit on data allowance or speed, and it's included in the plan, so you don't have to worry about additional charges. Mobile coverage required. Only available with eligible plans.
Modem included for use with new nbn with voice services. If you cancel, change to a plan without voice or to a different tech type, within 24 months, simply return your modem or pay a $200 non-return fee. Backup available with eligible plans. Mobile coverage required.
Medical security alarms, lift phones and fire indicator panels: If you have alarms such as back-to-base security alarm or medi-alert connected to your home phone service, it’s important you contact your medical or security provider to check if they’re compatible with the service and identify what alternatives are available.

More About Telstra
Why Telstra?
If you're ready to jump to a new broadband plan - and only the best will do - there's a reason why Telstra is still Australia's biggest telco. Telstra isn't usually the best option for more budget-conscious customers, but if you're after quality, reliability and speed, Telstra has plenty of offer with a wide range of NBN and mobile broadband plans.
Types of Telstra plans
NBN
If you're after a Telstra NBN plan, you can pick from six speed tiers: NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 500, NBN 750, and NBN 1000. Just be aware that NBN 500 plans are only available to addresses that have an FTTP or HFC connection type.
That being said, most FTTN and FTTC addresses can now request a free upgrade to FTTP by ordering an NBN 500 plan or faster, through an eligible provider like Telstra. Read more about the free upgrade process here.
Telstra offers two types of NBN plans: "Upfront" and "internet-only".
Upfront plans include a modem and 4G backup, and are bundled with a home phone landline at no extra cost, with unlimited calls to standard Australian mobiles and landlines.
Internet-only plans, like the name suggests, only give you internet. You don't get the modem, 4G backup, or phone calls, but as such, they are cheaper. Telstra will still sell you a modem if you buy an internet-only plan and want one, but it won't have 4G backup.
Telstra's NBN plans are as follows:
Be aware that if you leave a Telstra Upfront NBN plan within the first 24 months, you'll need to return your modem or pay a hardware fee.
Mobile broadband
Telstra also has a small range of mobile broadband plans. These can be purchased as a SIM-only option or paired with a portable modem.
How to switch to Telstra
To find out if you're eligible for a Telstra NBN plan, first check your address in our broadband search engine. If your home is covered by Telstra, all available plans will be listed in the search results.
Decide on the right plan for you, click the Go To Site button and follow the prompts. The Telstra team will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring your home phone number to your new account, where possible.
If you already have an NBN connection with another provider, that's no problem - simply follow the same steps as above. However, since you've already got NBN, you won't need a technician to visit your home or office. Instead, Telstra will be able to simply activate your new NBN service. In most cases, your new plan should be live within a day. Be sure to check that your old NBN plan has been cancelled with your previous provider after your Telstra service is live.
Another important thing to note: while having your premise connected to the NBN is free for most customers (excluding the upfront costs you may need to pay when signing up for a plan), if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN Co.
